House cleaning in The Annex

Big Victorian houses, a lot of stairs, original trim, and radiators that have been collecting dust since the Diefenbaker government.

What the homes are like here

Late-Victorian and Edwardian semi-detached and detached homes, typically three storeys with a basement, plus a large number of houses divided into two or three units. Original woodwork, plaster walls, stained glass and cast-iron radiators are common.

What we actually deal with in The Annex

Old houses take longer than their square footage suggests, and it is mostly the stairs. A three-storey Annex semi means every vacuum, bucket and kit gets carried up and down repeatedly, which is why we price on bedrooms and bathrooms rather than pretending floor area tells the whole story.

Cast-iron radiators are the signature Annex problem. Dust packs into the fins and bakes on every time the heat comes up, and it cannot be reached with a standard vacuum head. We use a narrow brush and a radiator tool.

Original painted trim, plaster and stained glass all need a gentler hand than modern finishes. Aggressive scrubbing takes paint off Victorian baseboards, so we clean them and stop.

The student rental share around Bloor and Spadina also makes this a busy area for end-of-lease cleans each spring.

FAQ

Cleaning in The Annex

Do you clean radiators?

Yes, and in this neighbourhood it matters. Cast-iron radiators collect dust deep between the fins where a normal vacuum head cannot reach, so we use a narrow brush attachment and a radiator tool.

Do you do end-of-lease cleans for student rentals?

Yes, and spring is our busiest window for exactly that around the U of T campus. Book two to three weeks ahead for anything in the last week of April.

How much does house cleaning cost in The Annex?

A typical 4 bed victorian semi, 2,300 sq ft in The Annex is $404 for a standard clean before HST, or $344 if you book every two weeks. A deep clean on the same home is $606. Use the calculator for your exact home rather than estimating from this example.

How do I pay, and when?

You add a card when you book, but nothing is charged then. We invoice after the clean is done and you have had a chance to look around, and the card on file is charged automatically with a receipt emailed to you. On recurring plans you are billed per visit rather than upfront for a block, so there is nothing to claw back if you pause or stop. Card details are handled entirely by Stripe and never touch our servers.
